When Clinical Help and Faith Should Work Together

Many Christians find themselves navigating a painful gap: secular counseling that ignores or dismisses faith, or faith-based programs that lack real clinical depth. Neither fully serves you. You need both.

A clinical environment where your faith is honored—not treated as secondary

  • Therapists who understand the intersection of spiritual health and mental health
  • An approach that addresses shame, identity, and worth through a gospel lens
  • Tools and frameworks that actually work—grounded in both Scripture and evidence-based therapy
  • A place where you don’t have to choose between your beliefs and getting genuine help

That’s exactly what our Christian Intensive programs are built to provide.

When Clinical Help and Faith Should Work Together

What Makes Our Approach Christ-Centered

Christ-centered counseling at Lifeworks is not simply adding a prayer to the beginning of a session. It is a foundational orientation that shapes how we understand people, problems, and healing.

We believe every person bears the image of God and therefore carries inherent worth and dignity—regardless of what they’ve done or what has been done to them. We believe that shame is one of the greatest barriers to healing, and that the gospel speaks directly to shame. We believe that truth-telling, community, and transformation are all deeply biblical—and also deeply therapeutic.

Our therapists are both clinically trained and deeply grounded in their own faith. They bring that integration to every session.

Why Lifeworks for Christian Intensive Therapy

Not every counseling center can offer genuine integration of faith and clinical excellence. Lifeworks can.

  • Our therapists hold advanced clinical credentials including CSAT certification
  • We have decades of combined experience serving the Christian community in Mississippi
  • Our approach is rooted in the gospel—not in moralism or behavior modification
  • We hold space for both the pain and the hope that faith offers
  • We understand the specific struggles of ministry families, church leaders, and people in faith communities

Faith and clinical excellence are not in conflict. At Lifeworks, they work together to produce lasting change.

What Makes Our Approach Christ-Centered

Our Theological Foundation

Our approach to Christian counseling is shaped by several core convictions:

  • Every person is made in the image of God and has inherent dignity and worth
  • Shame is not from God—the gospel speaks freedom directly into our deepest places of shame
  • Healing is holistic: mind, body, and soul are connected and all need care
  • Truth-telling is not just therapeutic—it is deeply biblical
  • Transformation is possible—not because we try harder, but because of who God is

We don’t just add Scripture to standard therapy. We practice counseling shaped by a biblical understanding of people and change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a Christian to attend?

Our programs are explicitly Christ-centered, so they are best suited for those who share or are open to a Christian faith framework. We welcome people at every point in their faith journey.

How is this different from a church program?

Our intensives are clinical therapeutic programs delivered by licensed, credentialed therapists—not pastoral counseling or discipleship programs. They integrate faith within a rigorous clinical framework.

Do you work with pastors or ministry leaders?

Yes. We have experience working with pastors, ministry staff, missionaries, and church leaders navigating unique pressures and expectations.

Is counseling confidential?

Absolutely. Professional confidentiality applies fully—we do not report to churches, families, or employers.

What if my faith is struggling right now?

That’s okay. We meet you where you are, not where you think you should be. Many people come to us precisely because their faith has been wounded.

Healing That Honors Both Your Mind and Your Soul

You don't have to choose between clinical help and your faith. At Lifeworks, both are honored—and both are essential to the healing you deserve.
