Julie Propst, LMFT is a Marriage and Family Therapist with over 30 years of mental health work. In 1983, Julie learned a new way of life through substance abuse treatment and the 12-step community. Of the many gifts received, the freedom of honesty and understanding of “to thine on self be true” have been guiding principles in her spiritual walk.In 1993, She was the recipient of the North American Fellowship of Narrative Family Therapy allowing study in New Zealand and Australia combining advocacy, justice, and the development of social policy.She returned to Mississippi and worked in many mental health settings throughout Mississippi. Julie has served families all who are disenfranchised and voiceless due to substance abuse, trauma, stigma, red tape. Along with family work she has helped develop programs including Group homes and day treatment, Family groups throughout MS for families of children with behavior concerns. She served on the State level case review team for high-risk youth. Her knowledge of statewide resources, positive behavior programs, EMDR and trauma focused therapy allow her to bring a wealth of resources and information in addition to therapy. As a Marriage and Family therapist and a person in recovery, she is uniquely qualified to work with individuals and families who are affected by substance abuse, mental health concerns and trauma. In her work as disability advocate, she has assisted many families in receiving needed supports and services in school districts throughout the state. Her skill with behavior plans for children is recognized as she consults with colleagues. Her spiritual calling is to be a vessel “To bring Grace and Light to Systems”. As a family therapist, she will walk with you on this new journey as you grieve, grow, create lifegiving habits and increase capacity to love through spiritual grace and healing.
